How much Google Maps costs with Pranory
How each Pranory search turns into Google requests, how to estimate the cost and how to keep it under control.
Pranory doesn't charge you for Google Maps. Your Google Cloud project pays for it, at Google's prices and with no markup. Here's how it adds up, so you know what to expect.
How a search uses requests
When you launch a search in a territory, Pranory splits the area into map tiles and goes through each one.
- For each tile it makes one request to the Places API (New) (Text Search).
- Each request returns up to 20 businesses.
- If there are more, it asks for the next page, up to 3 pages per tile.
So a tile uses between 1 and 3 requests. A quiet area costs little; a dense one costs more.
Before you launch, Pranory shows you an estimate of businesses and how many tiles the area has. Use it to get a sense of size.
Google bills every request, even when it returns businesses you already have. Pranory removes them so they aren't duplicated in your Leads, but the request has already been made. So it's best not to repeat the same area and sector too often.
How to estimate the cost
The rough formula is:
requests ≈ tiles × pages per tile (1 to 3)
cost ≈ requests × price per request
Pranory asks Google for name, address, location, categories, rating, website and phone. Those fields fall under Google's Text Search Enterprise rate. It costs US$35 per 1,000 requests (about €0.03 per request).
| Area | Tiles | Requests | Approximate cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| A neighbourhood | 10 | 25 | ≈ €1 |
| A mid-sized city | 50 | 120 | ≈ €4 |
| A province | 200 | 450 | ≈ €15 |
These figures are approximate: they depend on the density of businesses and the tile size.
Google gives you free usage per SKU every month: the first 1,000 Text Search Enterprise requests each month are free. Always check current prices on the Google Maps Platform pricing page.
What costs you nothing
- Retrying zones that failed: if Google throttles requests, Pranory marks those zones. Retrying them doesn't use another search from your plan; on Google you only pay for the new requests.
- Reviewing, scoring and working your leads: that happens inside Pranory and doesn't call Google.
How to keep it under control
- Start with small areas and a specific sector.
- Set a quota limit and a budget alert in Google Cloud. We explain how in Protect your Google Maps key.
- Check your spend in Google Cloud under Billing → Reports after your first searches.
If the numbers don't add up
- You spent more than expected: check the billing reports to see which API is being used. If you see APIs other than Places API (New), the key is being used outside Pranory. Replace it.
- Searches stop halfway: you've probably hit your quota limit. Raise it, or retry the zones later.
