Your first territory search

Pick an area and a type of business, check the estimate and launch your first search. Results land in Leads for you to review.

A search goes through an area on Google Maps and brings you the businesses in one sector. Before you launch it you see roughly how many there are, and the ones you already have aren't duplicated.

Before you start

  • Your Google Maps key connected under Settings → Providers. If you don't have one yet, follow Create your Google Maps key, step by step.
  • Searches left on your plan. You'll see them at the top of Territories.

1. Pick the area

  1. Go to Territories and open a new search.
  2. Under Area, type and pick one from the list: an autonomous community, a province or, in Catalonia, a comarca.
  3. If you want something more specific, draw it on the map with a rectangle, circle or polygon.

For your first search, a small area works best. You'll see results sooner and spend less on Google.

2. Choose which businesses you're after

  1. Under Which businesses are you looking for, pick a sector from the list or type your own. For example: gyms.
  2. Each search works on one sector. If you want several, launch one search per sector.

3. Check the estimate

Pranory shows roughly how many businesses there are in the area and how long it'll take. If the area is large, it tells you how many map tiles it has. More tiles mean more Google requests: the details are in How much Google Maps costs with Pranory.

Click Launch search. It goes through four stages: prepare, go through the map, remove duplicates and ready to review.

You don't need to wait on the screen. When it's ready, it'll be flagged in Territories.

5. Review the results

  1. Open the search and click Review results.
  2. Accept the businesses you're interested in and ignore the rest.
  3. The ones you accept move to Leads, with a priority band worked out from clear rules so you know where to start.

If something goes wrong

  • It asks you to connect Google Maps: the key isn't connected or isn't valid. Check it under Settings → Providers.
  • Some zones couldn't be read: Google throttled requests or returned an error. Click the button to retry those areas: it doesn't use another search from your plan.
  • The whole search failed: check that billing is active on your Google Cloud project and try again.
  • No new businesses found: try a different sector name or a wider area.
